Is Storage career only for advanced pros is it only for Linux advanced users NO

I've seen people getting jobs in Storage domain,Storage industries who are not exactly advanced pros.They are not always Linux admins or Linux power users. Yes Storage companies do hire people from Windows,Solaris background too. I've personally hired several people who were not having Storage experience but were working on or had experience/expertise in one specific thing like Security or Networking.

So rather than worrying you've not got any prior experience on Storage technologies like SAN,Storage arrays,Fibre Channel Switches etc. Build whatever you can in the available time. You may be called for interview based on what you know right now along with some foundation in Storage too. Though its not mandatory but getting good experience on Linux administration or Solaris or HP UX administration is a big boost to your career.

Think about it the time & energy you spend today to build your knowledgebase gives you immense returns. So take action & learn what helps your Storage Career.

Both EMC2 & NetApp along with HP though did some layoffs lately they are also hiring for some of the experienced positions(internal news).
